Did you know that in the UK we needlessly throw away 600 million household batteries – that's 22,000 tonnes or the weight of 110 jumbo jets – all going into landfill each year. Batteries are filled with precious metals that are relatively easy to extract and re-use including lead, nickel-cadmium and mercury.

I have a pot of them in my kithchen getting fuller all the time. Do I take them to my local recycling plant or should they go somewhere else??
ReplyDeleteYou can recycle ALL batteries at Wiltshire's 10 household recycling centres see www.recycleforwiltshire.com for more information
